Descripció

European research and innovation projects will share knowledge and their experience on the topic and will introduce measures that will be implemented in some of the European cities in order to create healthy, resilient and inclusive places.

Claudia’s presentation will be based on current literature and will also include a brief presentation of a survey distributed during the COVID-19 lockdown in Bologna, to explore how the current pandemic influences citizens perceptions of green areas in the city.

Clair’s presentation will briefly introduce the work of the EC Horizon 2020 Naturvation project, in particular, work to create an Urban Nature Atlas of 1000 cases of nature-based solutions from across 100 European cities. Using evidence from the Atlas and social, economic and health outcome indicators published by the Urban Audit, this presentation will show how different types of nature-based solutions (such as green walls and urban parks) relate to mortality indicators in cities and contribution to health.

Konstantinos will present the vision, challenges and perspectives of the H2020 VARCITIES project. The VARCITIES is to implement real, visionary ideas using Nature Based Solutions in eight cities from Greece to Sweden by co-design and co-creation strategy of local stakeholders. The innovative Health & Well Being (H&WB) VARCITIES platform will assess the sustainability and the impact of interventions through developing new and advancing existing H&WB KPIs based on inputs received from the municipalities, satellite data, citizens, etc. Finally, VARCITIES will provide new business opportunities for Europe and will create a strong network of stakeholders.
